Orlando needs you to reduce your water usage. Here’s why.

The city of Orlando and Orlando Utilities Commission are asking residents to conserve water due to a shortage of a material used to treat the city’s water supply.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said during an Aug. 20 press conference there’s a shortage of liquid oxygen, which is used to reduce the amount of chlorine that must be added in the water treatment process to eliminate parasites, bacteria and viruses from drinking water. However, too much chlorine can cause health issues, as well.
