New Florida ‘robocall’ protections could mean stricter rules for businesses

The Florida Legislature unanimously passed a bill in late April that will update the Florida Consumer Protection Law and Florida Telemarketing Act, affecting the ways businesses communicate with consumers.

This bill, CS/CB 1120, is nicknamed “Mini-TCPA” after the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which prohibits certain telemarketing practices by limiting companies’ use of automatic telephone dialing systems.

It could go into effect as early as July 1.
