Florida sees increase in new unemployment claims at end of January

Florida saw another rise in its first-time unemployment claims to end January.

For the week ending Jan. 30, the Sunshine State saw 71,046 first-time unemployment claims, up 13.1% from the previous week’s 62,818 new claims, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. That increase makes Florida the state with the third-highest number of claims.
